Christmas Dream

A Christmas Dream

Snow is falling the temperature dropping
Outside it’s bitter and cold
A fires glowing
He smell coffee roasting
A lighted tree means Christmas is near
He peers through a window
He stands on his tiptoes
To see only a dream that he has
To know what it’s like on a cold winters night
To be warmed my some Christmas Cheer

A lone church bell splinters the ice crystaled air
As the boy turns from his dream
To face a world that cares little for him
And now he must find something to eat
Then he remembers the plate of cookies
Left out for old Saint Nick
Then quietly he waits for the evening
Then inside he quietly creeps

The dawn comes early they wake from their sleeping
Dreaming of how it would be
If they could have child who’s eyes were all gleaming
They long for that precious sight
But with a sigh they just looking at each other
Wishing a marry Christmas or two
Then down they stairs they walk hand in hand
Until She jumps with a fright.

Look under the tree she almost whispers.
He looks and stares in disbelief.
For under the tree is a little boy
Crumbs and milk at his feet.

It was the best Christmas of them all
Tears and laughter filled every hall
For each had received the others dream
Now everyone’s having a ball
The lights all seem brighter the air just feels lighter
And inside theirs a warm glow
And God just looks down
And smiles all around
For He’s found His child a home.
